A memorable day in Diegen Haylock's life.
My dog Henry is a five year old Cocker Spanel
I've had him since he was a puppy and he's a certified emotional support dog.
I noticed Henry's eye was cloudy and showed it to my mom and dad. My mom's friend is the best veterinarian in town so we took Henry to see Dr McClarey.
Dr McClarey was very friendly. She examined Henry from head to toe; she paid particular attention to his heart and his eyes. She said that Cocker Spanels are particularly prone to eye problems such as cataracts or glaucoma.
Dr. McClarey said Henry had a full catteract in one eye and the only treatment for catteracts is expensive surgery. She gave me a prescription for eye drops to prevent glaucoma from developing. If a dog develops glaucoma they can also get very severe headaches. Dr McClarey wants to reexamine Henry every six months.
My mom got the prescription eye drops for Henry. I give these eye drops to Henry twice a day. Henry does very well with the drops and I praise him for his good behavior. Henry is doing well with limited vision since he uses his hearing and smell much of the time. I still take him for walks and we also play together with his toys.
In conclusion, I wish Cocker Spanials were not prone to eye problems, especially my Henry. I will continue to love and care for Henry for the rest of his life.
